Whitewater Game Recap

Jr. Varsity vs Whitewater HS on 3/16/2013 2:00:00 PM
Posted Saturday, March 23, 2013 by Ron Fisher
Whitewater is a Forsyth County school and tied into the Peachtree City Lacrosse league. Two years ago, Grady lost 17-4 to Whitewater and last year Grady prevalied 8 - 7.  The expectation was for a hard fought game and it was.  The final score does not reflect the intensity of the game.
The game started off well.  Sophia scored the first goal less than two minutes into the game.   With 8 minutes left in the first half, Grady was up 4 – 1 and time out was called.  Katie stressed decision making and passing.   By half time, the score was 7 – 1 and we were well on our way.    After going up 8 -1 in the second half, players were more actively rotated.  So how did we do…
Grady controlled, dominated this game by keeping the ball on the Attack side and tightening up on defense.  Defensive discipline was on display.    We had six girls win ground balls, three w/ interceptions and two who caused turnovers.   In general, faceoffs and ground balls were primarily won by Grady.  On the few occasions that Whitewater was on attack, our defense played aggressively.   Tenciah, Jasmine and Eavan closed down the fast breaks.  Sloan picked off two passes. Hannah came in and thwarted Whitewater from rolling the crease.   For the most part, Whitewater did not have clear, easy shots on goal – except for the two scores.  Billie had five saves.

Grady is displaying substantial improvement in all aspects.
